How health information on this website is written, reviewed, sourced and kept up to date.

Who is responsible for the content?

expertdermatologist.com is the official website of Dr Kartini Farah Rahim, Consultant Dermatologist (Malaysian Medical Council No. 43483; National Specialist Register No. 128619). Dr Kartini is responsible for all medical content published on the site.

How is medical content reviewed?

  • Every condition guide and dermatology article is reviewed and approved by Dr Kartini before publication.
  • Pages show the date first published and the date last reviewed. Condition guides are reviewed at least once a year, and sooner when guidelines change.
  • Content is written for patients and families in Malaysia, in plain English or Bahasa Malaysia.

What sources do we use?

We base medical information on current clinical practice guidelines and reputable sources, including Malaysian Clinical Practice Guidelines, the Ministry of Health Malaysia and the National Pharmaceutical Regulatory Agency, and international bodies such as the World Health Organization, the NHS, the British Association of Dermatologists, the American Academy of Dermatology and DermNet. Sources are listed at the end of each guide.

Advertising and independence

  • This website follows the Malaysian Medical Council’s guidance on the dissemination of information by medical practitioners.
  • We do not publish patient testimonials, before-and-after photographs, price promotions or claims of superiority.
  • We do not recommend or endorse commercial skincare brands or products in our medical content.
  • Television appearances and education programmes that were sponsored are identified as such where known.

Opinion and advocacy content

Articles on animal welfare, the environment and public issues reflect Dr Kartini’s personal views and experience as an advocate. They are clearly categorised as perspectives, press statements, or animal welfare and environment writing, and are separate from medical guidance.

Not a substitute for a consultation

Information on this website is general education. It cannot diagnose your condition or replace a consultation with a doctor who can examine you. If you have a medical emergency, go to the nearest emergency department or call 999.
